The Writers Circle announces its latest series of creative writing workshops for children and adults. The summer schedule runs from July 5 – August 22. Classes are offered in West Orange, Maplewood and Madison, NJ.
The Writers Circle, founded and directed by novelist Judith Lindbergh, offers writing workshops that emphasize creativity, process over product, and a deep respect for the uniqueness of each writer's voice. Children's classes use a multidisciplinary approach that includes role-playing, music, movement and tactile experience, encouraging children to dive into the excitement of playing with words while developing their writing skills.
Workshops in Maplewood and West Orange are taught by Ms. Lindbergh. Madison classes are led by novelist and poet Michelle Cameron.
Summer children's classes include Storytellers Circle, For Boys Only!, Story Magic, and the Teen Writers Circle, ranging in ages from kindergarten through high school. The Young Storymakers, a invitation- or submission-only children's workshop, currently runs only in West Orange, with plans to establish this group in Madison in the fall.
Adult workshops are available both mornings and evenings.
Madison classes meet at Sages Pages, 300 Main Street, Madison.
West Orange children's classes are held at Luna Stage, 555 Valley Street and adult workshops at the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School and St. George's Episcopal Church, Maplewood.
