In addition to being a fine poet in both the serio-comic tradition of invective and spleen and the lyrical tradition of Hart Crane in Chaplinesque, Matt is a quirky and original song writer who was writing Indie folk songs before there was such a thing. Nietchzsce Never Knew, one of his earliest songs, is a good example. He lives a life of semi-reclusiveness down by the ocean, and is the author of Upside/Down, a book of poems that mixes his divergent styles of poetry filtered through his absolutely singular voice.
