SUN COLORS
by Edwin Torres
the pond is overgrown
and love is green
and waiting and
in that time is our approach
what we hold up to each other
is only how we see
no longer mirrors, but love
but who we are — in love is
white cranberries
in lace and overgrown shade
is love in trees
I see her follow her
shadow in close is
the black of her eyes in
love is brown and
all I see
against the green sun
is who I am and
who I want
to be
I shade my
eyes blinding against the
white sun now racing her
breath the blood
I lean against — green tall
grass orange in the sun and
in love, all colors
are whispers from somewhere
a memory borrowed
for this moment of seeing
