Legends
I know the legend of the Golem,
that dark figure of mud that breathes
the fire of righteous indignation and
avenges the blood of the innocent.
But I embrace the legend of the hummingbird,
that smallest and most delicate of beings,
who swoops into the hearts of flowers,
much the way love enters us.
As it ascends into sunlight, the flutter
of its wings reminds us to drink deeply.
